Mission Ballistic Review

Quick review of the new Mission Ballistic Bow

I thought I'd give a quick review of my new Mission Ballistic aka my Stalk and Spook Antelope Sniper.  I'm shooting 388 grain Easton Lightspeed's at around 307 fps with this bow.  It's set up at 70 lbs draw weight, draw length of 29.5", a Black Gold Ascent sight, Rip Cord Fall Away Rest, 4" Axion Stabilizer, and a Stalk and Spook Chick Magnet.

Mission Ballistic Specs

IBO Rate: 330 FPS, Physical Weight: 4.18 lbs, 80% let off, Draw weights of 50-70 lbs,

Brace Height of 7", Draw lengths of 26"-30", AVS Cams

(Started out shooting to the right and slightly low)

My first couple shots at 20 yards were hitting right and slightly low.  After a quick tune, I had the bow shooting a lot better.  I barely had to adjust any pins from the factory defaults on the Black Gold sight.  It's a fast shooting bow that resembles a Mathew's Monster dual cam with split limb design.  I decided to stop adjusting after I put about 30 arrows through it due to a little arm fatigue.  The steadiness of my shots were varying as my arms fatigued and there's no point in continuing to sight it in at that point.  I gave my arm a little rest and shot it a little more at 40 yards.

Here's a quick little video of me shooting my Ballistic that first day.  It tuned up fairly quickly.

My first time shooting my Mission Ballistic bow. It tuned up really quickly and I was surprised how nice of a shooting bow it was for the price. One of the better deals on the market right now. See our website at www.stalkandspook.com

I bought this Ballistic for 3D league and random shoots throughout the year, but will have to try my luck at some antelope this year with the adjustable Ascent sight.  I haven't shot it out past 60 yards yet, but plan to this summer when it warms up.  For the money, I think this bow gives you a great bang or maybe "thwack" for your buck and I wouldn't be afraid to recommend it to any of you fellow Stalk and Spooker's out there.  I saw it at a less expensive alternative to the Mathew's Monster because its half the price of a new Monster is, yet fairly similar in design. It's cams and split limbs are very similar, whereas the roller guard and limb pockets differ.

Shooting it, I did notice a slight hump in the draw cycle and am not a huge fan of the rubber grip.  I tend to torque the bow on occasion and it causes my arrows to hit to the right. Slimming down the grip may allow me to center the grip more in my hand and I won't feel the urge to grip it as hard.  It doesn't have an easy assist roller guard like the other Mathew's bows do, but it does have a fairly smooth draw so I can't complain about that.  Make sure your anchor point is consistent and this bow will get you great accuracy.  I may change out my stabilizer and switch to more of a 3D shooting type because I use the Axion on my hunting rig.  Compared to my Mathews Z7, I'd say this bow has more noise when releasing an arrow, but with a dual cam, that's expected.

Being that I set it up as a 3D rig, I originally have 70 grain glue in field tips on my arrows.  I found this to be not a great set up as I couldn't accurately shoot this bow past 30 yards.  My 40 yard groups were not like I wanted them, and I decided to switch to 100 grain field tips.  What a difference this makes!  I'm assuming this bow has so much power behind it, that the arrows were never able to stabilize in flight with the lighter field tips. Bringing the center weight of the arrow forward some with heavier field tips allowed these arrows to stabilize and shoot much more accurately.  After sighting it in to 60 yards, I dialed my Ascent sight down and my first shot at 70 yards was a bullseye. I've shot it with accuracy out there so far, and plan on taking it out to 100 yards if it keeps shooting well.  I think that will depend more on the shooter than the bow at that point.  I'm by no means a great shot, but with this bow, it makes me feel like one.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with this bow and I got into it fairly cheaply.  You won't be disappointed.  The best thing about this bow is you get an amazing performance bow for fairly cheap compared to the other higher end bows.

I did add on some Gore Optifade dipped limbs to give it a little extra personalization, but its not a necessity by any means.  Anyone else out there shot a Ballistic?  What did you think?
